About the Author
Steven M. Freund attended the University of Central Florida and serves as a leader instructor of various Microsoft Office, computer concepts, programming, and Internet technology courses throughout Central Florida. An integral author for the successful Shelly Cashman Series since 2001, he has presented at the annual customer conference, the Shelly Cashman Series Institute, as well as other customer events. Mr. Freund has co-authored multiple editions of DISCOVERING COMPUTERS, Mozilla Firefox, Windows Internet Explorer, Windows, Office, and Dreamweaver books. He has also written numerous successful instructor supplements.
Mali B. Jones has more than 20 years of editorial, instructional and support experience in the field of computer and information technology. She has been associated with the Shelly Cashman Series for nearly 10 years, providing editorial, authoring, and product management services.
Joy L. Starks is a Professor of Computer and Information Technology at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. She has written chapters in several of the Shelly Cashman Series Office books and authored the Photoshop, Java Programming, and Microsoft Publisher series of books. As well as speaking engagements, she also hosts the nationally-renowned Tech Camp for Teachers on the IUPUI campus each summer.

Amazing tool for learning excel, but why buy when you can rent?

Completed this book in 3 days for an online course. I feel like I actually took something from it, rather than just reading a textbook. It is designed to take you through all the steps on creating a workbook with the given chapter's subject, then you have additional activities such as Apply Your Knowledge, Extend Your Knowledge, and Labs. The labs are where I can tell that the subjects were actually sticking, it gives you minimal instructions to do similar tasks within the chapter.
Pros: Keeps you're attention, lots of hands on, very well written

This is a excellent book for learning excel. It does go into much detail and explanation, and overall it is very good.

Good Intro, uses a huge visual approach

While a great step-by-step intro to Excel techniques, it repeats itself a lot for opening and
closing files. I am divided on the huge visual approach. It could just be that I am old and
am accustomed to reading text, but the vast amount of graphics is kind of off-putting. Still,
it develops skills in a straightforward order.
