This book is made for those with little experience in leading missions trips. It highlights all the important steps you need to walk through prior to, during and after a missions trip. It is not as detailed as I'd prefer for my use but for anyone leading for a first time, I'd recommend it.

Not even close, and there are much better out there.

This book covers the topics of the new exam, technically, but it misses the mark badly on what the new questions are like. Page through the previews Amazon has here, and you'll see example problems that are pure calculation--"Find the speed of..." "Find the acceleration..." But that's not the true nature of the new test at all. On the AP Physics 1 exam, you can expect questions closer to:

"You throw a ball of mass m up at speed v. It reaches a height of h before it starts to come down. What could you change in order to make the ball reach a height of 2h before coming down? a) Throw the ball twice as fast. b) Throw the ball sqrt(2) times as fast. c) Throw a ball that is half as massive at the same speed v. d) Throw the ball 4 times as fast."

Note what you don't see as any of the options: a solution in meters per second (or any other unit, for that matter). Contrast this to the problems you see in the previews. You don't have to take my word (or anyone else's, for that matter), by the way; College Board released several sample physics problems on their website. Look them over and look at the ones in this book; they're not even close.

So although you can get a glimpse at the topics covered in this book, and read what the definition of momentum is and such, the practice problems included here are beyond misleading and shouldn't be used for AP Physics 1 at all. The McGraw Hill guide hits much closer to the mark, as should the as-yet-unreleased Barrons and Princeton Review guides. And if you'd prefer a textbook full of problems that resemble the new course material, check out Knight-Jones-Field's 3rd edition (pink, water drop on cover) or Etkina-VanHuevelen's 1st edition (bicycle wheel on cover). As well, old Cutnell-Johnson textbooks (pre-8th edition) are cheap to get used copies of nowadays and contain some concept-first-problem-second "group solving" problems at the end of each chapter that are similar to the Qualitative-Quantitative Reasoning questions (QQR) that will show up in the short answer section of the new exam.

Any one of these options would be a much better source for the new exam than this horrible book that puts "AP Physics 1" in the title but contains none of the new-style questions.

Wish I would have had this in engineering school

After graduating from engineering school and working in the industry for a number of years, I'm interesting seeing how new textbooks present physics concepts to see if I would have benefited from their teaching approach. I feel the methods presented in this book would have better helped me in my time as a student. I always learned the best in deconstructing the example problems. In this book you have a huge number of problems to learn from. I'd give this book my thumbs up.

Thanks to my luck for attracting me to this book! I finished reading the book and started doing my affirmations and visualization as guided, and let me tell you -- what a powerful book it is! If you do it, even for 5 minutes, it works. I've read similar books and sometimes the affirmations were time consuming, but Sakshi teaches precise and short affirmations that really work.

You need to start repeating them as you work or drive. There are affirmations for greater wealth, increased clients, fulfilling relationships, and radiant health. You’ll get to know that our reality is nothing more than a reflection of our thoughts that we deeply cherish in our subconscious mind. Affirmations help us to program our deepest thoughts. Wow! This book is absolutely amazing. I can say this is one of the best books I’ve ever purchased. I am a young woman who has hopes for success in my career. The expansion of consumer economy fostered such institutions as department stores and advertising firms, but it also depended on a transformation in attitudes and emotional codes. Matt explores the ways gender, geography, and age shaped this transformation. Matt offers something special in this book. I read it for a history course in undergrad (if you go to UNCW and have Dr. Gordon you may read it). Its a great read though even as a non-fiction. The book tracks the birth of consumerism in the United States, which was a nascent concept in the period Matt addresses. It truly is amazing at how Americans went from satisfied and content individuals to product hungry mongers in only a couple short decades... Obviously the industrial revolution provided the platform with the goods, but nevertheless it is quite amazing to think about what this nation was before consumerism hit and became a staple in both our economy and our everyday lives. As I recall, this book may also address the advertising devlopment that directly correllated with consumerism itself.

Matt did a wonderful job in writing a detailed and accessible work; she includes many sources in her work and images of ads from the period. Her main thesis of this transition is shown among "city women and the quest for status," "envy in the office," on the farm, and among children.

Great way to travel and communicate!

We took this on our recent trip to Shanghai. We used it to convey to the taxi drivers where we wanted to go. It also recommended great places to see and eat. We would like to see this product for other destinations. Each day we took out only the cards for the day and put them on the smaller ring with the map to take with us. The map in itself was a great help. We highly recommend this to people who like to travel on thier own, who don't speak the Shanghai form of Chinese.

Shanghai "Flash Card" Guide

This is better in theory than in practice. The idea is to only take the "cards" you are going to use on a particular day and snap them into the carabiner. Voila, you have a customized guide that is compact and easy to take with you. I eagerly anticipated using it for the entire time I was in Shanghai. I used it once. It's clumsy and you can't always find the card you want easily. I used it more BEFORE I decided where to go, and then used other information to get there. So, it's just "okay." I was hoping for something better.

almost indispensable

Such a simple concept for getting about in taxis, finding landmarks, finding restaurants and even ordering your meal.
Think about it ....... how are you going to communicate if your Mandarin is as bad as mine?

Just hook on the cards you'll need for that day (plus your hotel card to get you home again), and off you go. When you want to communicate a place or thing, just show the Chinese person the little translation card.
Easy.
I wish I had this the first time I visited China.
