Best Practical C programming book even for experienced engineers

I have more than 30 years of programming experience and so far this is the best C programming book, from earlier versions to 7th edition, I have ever read and very useful for fresh graduates as well as experienced engineers to brush up on fundamentals including better programming practices. I haven't read the 8th edition since it is very expensive, wish the price is lowered to allow many folks to read this book, and expect the next version to be updated to reflect latest computer technologies that are referenced here and there in the book.

Good fundamental concepts for c programing. This book is not good for self study. Some parts you will need some explanations from your teacher or some other sources. If you are looking only how to code with easy concepts, this book is not the best bet. If you want a good fundamental skills for c, this book is perfect.

Usually I don't trust those thick books. They are usually expensive, thick, over-designed, verbose and unclear. This book falls perfectly into each one of those categories and therefore is no exception. For future customer: if it is not required by the course to buy it, save your money and look somewhere else. There are plenty of books and even apps that are far better than this.

I didn't like this book

I didn't like this book. I hate when they end in cliff hangers. I also didn't like that they are now changing Faith's character. I won't be reading any more of this series.

WOW!!!!! IT'S ABOUT TO BE A MESS!

I never liked Simone and this book doesn't help her character at all. Everything about her is wrong. I never liked Darren either. There is something about him that just doesn't feel right. I'm proud of Eli for being able to not only admit his part but still be true to his convictions. No more just taking what Faith dished out. He manned up with her and it was great to see. Without giving anything away, Simone and Darren have no idea what they are about to unleash with this family. Ms. Roberts you did a wonderful job with this book. I can not wait for the conclusion. Also, thank you for a bit of Scott and Mari. Can't wait to read the finished product of that story as well.

Worth the wait!

I have been waiting for this book forever! It will be an emotional rollercoaster to say the least. I love the rich character development. I am rooting for Eli & Faith. I don't blame Faith for what happen this go around as I feel I would do the same but I'm glad she had a come to Jesus moment and actually got through this a stronger and better person. I still can't stand coconut. Can't wait for the war book! Love the visit from Scott & M and hints regarding Tony & Krista. (They need a book asap)

These are getting scary!

Although I am far beyond the targeted age group for these books, I have enjoyed reading the continuing saga of the Incorrigible Children.
The stories are well crafted, have lots of educational bon mots thrown in as well as general good rules to live by.
The Unmapped Sea ...( I don't know what that title has to do with the story except they were at the beach)...has ramped up the creepy level and seems much scarier and darker than the first four books. I was very sure this would be the end of the tale and the tails, but readers rejoice, there will be more. This edition leaves our heroine in the lurch, so the author better get typing and get the next installment ready. My nervous system can't stand the strain!

We adults enjoyed it too

This books was much appreciated by my children, who are avid fans of the series. We adults enjoyed it too, and found it more humorous than the preceding volumes. Our only criticism is with the new illustrations and cover design. It was disappointing to get a volume that doesn't match the previous four we bought, the scene on the cover doesn't match any scene in the story, and the artist obviously hasn't even read the book (much is made of the children's unusual auburn hair, and yet she has depicted them with black hair).

Not the most riveting in the series!

While this moved the mystery along, I don't think it was as interesting or engaging as the others in the series. I think children would be bored with this book in the series and it so clearly leads to further events.that combining books would have been a much better choice in editing. However, I do want to stress for followers of the series that vital information about the overall mystery is revealed in this volume.

simply not worth the money

I've passed the exam. But the level of the questions asked in this book simply provides you a false view on the actual level of the exam. It's got one star because there are some questions put on paper that are related to Togaf Foundation. But that's about it.

Good book for working professionals

For a working professional with tight delivery schedule who cannot invest much time to go through the whole of specification twice and prepare for the certification test this book is of great help. It really helped me to cover all the concepts of the TOGAF specification. The best part of the book is for every question the justification for the correct option is specified with the reference from the page & section in the TOGAF 9.1 specification itself. This helps to revise the specification from the granular level. I recommend to give the tests in this book even after giving the Certification exam since it helps to revise the TOGAF specification and gain expertise.

It would be better if a Kindle edition of this book is released for instant access for test takers outside the Americas and for ease of access on their mobile devices.

And I venture to hope that from the advantage I have had in being able to compare the works of two writers, one of whom has well-nigh exhausted the theories as the other has the facts of the subject, I have succeeded in giving a more consistent and faithful account of the leaders and legislation of the revolutionary era than has hitherto been written. Certainly there could be no more instructive commentary on either history than the study of the other, for each supplements the other and emphasizes its defects. If Mommsen at times pushes conjecture to the verge of invention, as in his account of the junction of the Helvetii and Cimbri, Mr. Long, in his dogged determination never to swerve from facts to inference, falls into the opposite extreme, resorting to somewhat Cyclopean architecture in his detestation of stucco. But my admiration for his history is but slightly qualified by such considerations, and to any student who may be stimulated by the volumes of this series to acquire what would virtually amount to an acquaintance first-hand with the narratives of ancient writers, I would say 'Read Mr. Long's history.' To do so is to learn not only knowledge but a lesson in historical study generally. For the writings of a man with whom style is not the first object are as refreshing as his scorn for romancing history is wholesome, and the grave irony with which he records its slips amusing."

Her new book about the back pain industry, Crooked, will be published in April 2017.  She’s written for many national magazines on topics that include healthcare, neuroscience, business, public policy,  travel, art, design and culture.  A popular speaker, these days, she’s booking lectures that enlighten patients,  health care practitioners, corporations and medical facilities about how to manage back pain. Cathryn is married to Ron Ramin, a music composer. They have two adult sons, Avery and Oliver, and a Jack Russell-Daschundt mix dog named Dasch, after the punctuation mark, which he resembles. About the Author
Mark M. Lowenthal has thirty-six years of experience as an intelligence official in the executive and legislative branches of government and in the private sector. He has served in the Congressional Research Service, the State Department, the House Intelligence Committee as staff director and the CIA, where he served as the assistant director of central intelligence for analysis and production, and also as vice chairman for evaluation on the National Intelligence Council. He is now the President and CEO of the Intelligence & Security Academy. Dr. Lowenthal received his B.A. from Brooklyn College and his Ph.D. in history from Harvard University. He is an Adjunct Professor at the Johns Hopkins University; he was an adjunct at Columbia University from 1993-2007.

The only primer available in English

I am an intelligence professional and I know both the author and the subject of this book intimately. Dr. Lowenthal's book represents the *only* available "primer" on intelligence that can be understood by Presidents, Congressmen, the media, and the public.

Dr. Lowenthal's book focuses on the U.S. Intelligence Community itself--the good, the bad, and the ugly. He is strongest on analysis and the politics of intelligence, somewhat weaker on collection and counterintelligence covert action. There is no other book that meets the need for this particular primer, and so I recommend it with enthusiasm.

Outstanding

I purchased the book for a graduate class, this fall. I was actually surprised at the content; based on prior readings of intelligence affairs they lacked the changes since the September eleventh attacks. The author takes a broad look at the theater and sets the pace for the remaining chapters. The book is well written and very informative on present relationships and laws within the intelligence community and their clients.

Informative read

The information is useful for someone who wants to learn more about the intelligence community. However, the book could have easily been condensed and would be more functional if the same themes were not reiterated in every single chapter. Each section contains relevant information, which can be located if you are willing to skim past the redundant fluff language. If you know nothing about IC, then I would recommend this book, but I did not give it a higher rating because I think it would have been helpful to have a book with this type of content organized in a way that readers could look-up or locate specific information without having to read through the whole thing like a novel.
