Growing up as a African-America Christian; throughout my childhood years in sunday school and church I wondered why everyone in the bible was white. I wondered why in sunday school our bible coloring lessons we always needed a white or yellow crayon and not a brown crayon. I wondered why the pastor always called us "Gentiles". I remember watching the "Ten Commandments" and seeing a white Moses and white Israelites. "Hebrews to Negroes" has shaken the foundation of everything I have been taught for 40 years. I always felt inside that black people in America were "God's Chosen People" from reading the Bible, especially in Deuteronomy 28:16-68. In Deuteronomy 28 it describes the Curses of Israel and it only fits what blacks have gone through for what seems to be an eternity. Daniel 9:9-15 proves that the Children of Israel DID in fact disobey Gods commandments. Therefore they STILL should be going through the Curses of Israel. This Book proves without a shadow of a doubt that the REAL biblical Israelites were Black (People of Color) and not the European Ashkenazi or European Sephardic Jews we see today in America, Europe and Israel. There is no way that Black Jews make up 1% of all the Jews worldwide. Thank you so much for putting this book out. This book HANDS DOWN lays to rest all those (European Jews, Catholics, Muslims) who teach and believe that real Jews are white. This book put chills in my spine and made me realize how much Black America has been tricked and deceived. After reading this book, I see now why It says "Wake up Black America". I am more awake now then ever and I will spread the word to others now that I have read this book.

It's a Good wake up call

This book a good read of someone who has come to knowledge about the truth of an identity, and the history that has made us forget. It is a book that no doubt took a considerable amount of time to complete, and which is well written and thought out. It is a blend of a few different styles; Opinion, Persuasion, and Historical accounts with analysis. It contains the Authors personal beliefs, which make it both compelling, and honestly, challenging to read if you don't accept the same basic premises of faith.

For those of you who do not take the New Testament in a high regard, as you question the validity of all of it or most of it, this book is not entirely for you. However, if you want to understand the perspective of those who accept a Messianic return, and you want to know the evidences provided for faith in the concept, then this book will enlighten you.

I respect the brother for his opinions and views. I disagree with many of the assertions, mostly based on the ideology of the Christ/Messiah and the return, and those statements that are made as a matter of fact when they are opinion. But in general, I appreciated the historical analysis, and the thought that it took to write the book.

I believe that this is a good book for those that are just now coming to knowledge, and those that want to further understand the role of Israelites today. It is most specifically geared to those who are awakening from a christian perspective, and are searching for an identity. Personally, I think that the book maintains a certain level of acceptance of church doctrine promoted by the oppressors, however it is an obvious step in the right direction. I would absolutely invite the author to dinner to discuss the entirety of our differences, as I can tell that the information is well researched and reflected upon.

As with any presentation of knowledge, we must question everything we all say and hold as fact, and I would impress upon the readers to verify the information presented here. I think that the best way forward in the community, is critical inquiry, and diligent study.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and recommend this book to anyone interested in learning about our history as a people, our current state, and where we are headed if we don't collectively change our ways to be obedient to God. I only hope more people become more interested in these topics and make changes in their lives and in those of their children. Shalom and God bless!

Sherman Alexie, a gifted poet and storyteller, plows familiar yet fertile ground in his third collection of short stories, Ten Little Indians. The book contains nine stories populated by at least one American Indian (usually of Alexie's Spokane heritage, and mostly living in Seattle), but "little" is a bit of a misnomer; the book addresses human (not necessarily Indian), rituals, ceremony, love, loss, insecurity over life choices, and personal sacrifices. A lot of intense basketball is played, too.

When Alexie is at his best, his stories function at a profoundly sad level, where broken down characters are broken down even more, but are fierce-willed enough to attempt Phoenix-like transitions. Unfortunately, the weakest stories appear first, where characters and situations seem far too contrived or forced, the dialogue wooden, and questions or exclamatory sentences appear annoyingly in bunches. In the last half of the book, a married couple, once intensely in love but now lost in life's routines, deal with infidelity ("Do You Know Where I Am?"); a bright basketball prospect attempts a comeback--twenty years after giving up the game ("Whatever Happened to Frank Snake Church?"); and a transient Indian finds his grandmother's regalia in a pawn shop and seeks to quickly raise the lofty purchase price ("What You Pawn I Will Redeem"). Brilliant turns of phrase abound, such as ceremonies being "pitiful cries to a disinterested God," or when a gym rat plays against "Basketball-Democrats who came to the court alone and ran with anybody and Basketball-Republicans who traveled in groups of five and only ran with each other." In "Can I Get a Witness" an Indian woman is caught inside a restaurant when a suicide bomber blows himself up; in "Do Not Go Gentle" a father buys a vibrator dubbed "Chocolate Thunder" and uses it as a spiritual talisman to successfully bring his seriously injured baby out of a coma. In one of the book's finest stories, "The Search Engine," Corliss Joseph, an intrepid 19-year-old Spokane Indian college student, finds an obscure 1973 volume of Indian poetry and tracks down the author, an aging forklift operator with painful memories of his foray into the literary world. Basketball looms large in a number of these stories, from the thoughtful "Lawyer's League" to the superb final entry, "What Ever Happened to Frank Snake Church?" Loose, jaunty and salted with long, hilarious, inspired riffs-"What kind of life had she created for herself? She was a laboratory mouse lost in the capitalistic maze. She was an underpaid cow paying one-tenth mortgage on a three-bedroom, two-bath abattoir"-these are still cohesive, powerful narratives, expanding on Alexie's continuing theme of what it means to be an Indian culturally, politically and personally. Adult/High School-Nine extraordinary short stories set in and around the Seattle area, featuring Spokane Indians from all walks of urban life. In "The Search Engine," a student of English poetry stumbles upon a book of poems by another member of her tribe and goes on a vision quest to find him. But no brief description does justice to the rich complexity of this story or the others; adjectives such as incisive, ironic, emotional, political, tragic, triumphant, angry, loving, exuberant, and wise come to mind, and Alexie puts everything together in a deceptively casual, often dazzling way. In bursts of exposition, using colloquial language and uncensored thoughts, he creates characters so richly layered and situations so colorfully detailed that readers finish each tale with a feeling of having encountered a real person or event. They include a woman caught in a terrorist attack; a homeless, alcoholic man on a quest to recapture his grandmother's lost regalia; a lawyer who pays too high a cost for being too focused on his ambition; and a feminist mother, as remembered by her adult son. Woven throughout are themes that satirize Native American images, such as the great storyteller and the spiritual master; yet even as the characters are self-deprecating about these stereotypes, Alexie slyly, in unexpected ways, ultimately demonstrates their truth. Those familiar with this author's earlier work will find his charm, originality, and sheer humanity in full measure here.

Sherman Alexie's voice in these stories is true, honest and engaging. These stories not only lead you into the world of the Indian, they also allow you to experience hope, joy, and despair as Alexie's characters do. Highly recommend this collection and so glad I have more of Alexie to read.

This is a fine set of stories that capture the broad spectrum of urban Native Americans and their lives. Set in Seattle, it depicts the wry humor, desperation, failures and triumphs of Spokane natives living in Seattle. It could only have been written by one who knows them well.

I usually am a reader of novels, not so often short stories. This collection really caught my attention, and I devoured them one after another in one sitting. They made me think about my own life even though my heritage is not Native American, and I am inspired to write my own!

very poorly written

One of the most poorly written books I've ever read.
For example, on page 4, the acronym PIN is spelled out (Personal Identification Number -- duh), but the acronyms CHAP and PAP are used in the next paragraph with no discussion -- plus you don't need to know them for another 100 pages anyway. Page after page are likely this -- very frustrating to try to read.
Consider "Virtual Private Networks" by Yuan and Strayer.

I have received and viewed several comments about my book - some good and some bad. I will be the first to tell you that the book is technically sound, but my grammar was less than spectacular. I have spent a great deal of time working with IPSec and various vendors developing IPSec solutions and products. From this experience I felt compelled to write about IPSec and the idiosyncrasies it demands.
If you expect a technical guide on IPSec, this is the book for you. It details the protocol and provides insight into the diverse security characteristics IPSec employs. If you decide to venture into this book I truly hope you enjoy reading about this interesting technology as much as I did writing about it.

Best and most comprehensive VPN/IPSEC book out there!

I was lucky enough to come across this book at a book show in New York. I am happy to see that an author has seen fit to properly address what is becoming a hot technology for enterprise businesses as well as service providers. Mr. Tiller obviously speaks from the voice of experience, as opposed to some works I have seen which are products of cut and paste artists. I particularly enjoyed the section on IKE. This is a commonly misunderstood yet essential component in any secure remote access architecture. The book is easy enough for most security neophytes to understand yet still meaty enough to satisfy and teach veteran bit-heads. Read this book and then keep it nearby. I hope the author has more books planned, this was great.

wish the description had been clearer

Be aware that this book's pages must be photocopied to be usable. The description states "no cutting or stapling--just fold and they're ready to use!" What I missed was that I have to photocopy it first, and just fold and use the COPY. I could tell that they were designed to be reproducible, but it wasn't clear that the book can NOT be used as a consumable, as I was planning with my 4 year old. The mini books are printed front and back, so I can't tear out a page and make a book out of it, as I was hoping. Also, these are not in color, as shown on the cover. They are in black and white. The preview does not show an actual mini book page, so I didn't know this, either. For what it is, it's a great resource. But I was looking for a colorful, consumable tear-out activity book.

One book NOT 100 Mini-books

I just received this and am very disappointed at the authors and at Amazon for showing a VERY deceptive title. These are NOT 100 Mini-books, it is ONE book where you can copy each page and fold it into a mini-book. It is a tremendous amount of work if you bought it for your son or daughter to learn. I am returning it.

Great sight word practice!

Scholatic's 100 Sight Word Mini-Books provides a fun way for kindergartners and first graders to practice sight words. Each sight word is in its own book, which is easily copied and folded. It's an excellent independent work activity because each book continues the same "work" patterns! It is essential that emergent readers become automatic when reading sight words so their brains can be freed up to solve trickier words and think about the text's message. I found this book to be quite useful this summer when I was teaching kindergartners.
