From the Author
This book is so personal that I nearly decided not to publish it, but I was encouraged again and again by the women in my support group. "This needs to be out there," they said. So I gathered my courage and sent it to the publisher. Lo and behold, a few months later, it was honored by the New Generation Indy Book awards with first prize for women's issues. I went to the Plaza Hotel in NYC to collect my award and was delighted to be among such distinguished company.

The truth is, though, that the book is pretty simple. Many women and men with ADHD have trouble finishing books, or even reading anything longer than an article. I wanted to make sure women read all the way to "The End" so I deliberately wrote short paragraphs, short chapters and formatted the book with lots of white space and whimsical illustrations. It must have worked; I hear again and again from readers who say it is one of the few books they have read cover to cover.

Of course, as an ADHD woman, it was a challenge to finish writing the book in the first place! The epilogue details my journey through the writing, but the book also details another kind of journey - from denial to acceptance of my own ADHD. There are a lot of clinical books out there that talk about the bad news of ADHD. It was never my intention to sugarcoat ADHD, but a more forgiving, more positive approach seems to mitigate some of its eye-rolling mistakes.I am proud to present it to you, dear reader. Most of my reviews have been five stars - other, who read for high brow insight were disappointed. That's OK. As long as the right people get what they need from the book, it was worth the embarrassment. 

About the Author
Linda Roggli (1952-) is a Midwest farmer's daughter who caught the writing bug in childhood. Although her early attempts at poetry were unfortunate, she managed to publish Durham Doorway to Discovery (1995);  Angie's Choice (2005); and Confessions of an ADDiva: midlife in the non-linear lane (2011) in adulthood. She is a coach for ADHD women and maintains a lively blog (addiva.net) and is a regular contributor to ADDitude magazine. She writes in Durham, NC with her Shelties at her feet and her husband rubbing her shoulders (OK, it happened once...)!

A Winner!

I'm not a reader, but this is one I could not put down. This book is a WINNER! Linda's extraordinary gift of communication through the written word touched the hidden corners of my ADD soul! She verbalized what I could not communicate. I needed to know I was not alone in this ADD journey as well as understand it. This book not only exceeded my expectations, but helped me to embrace this ADD soul of mine and use the positives from it in my everyday life. If you are ADD, you too will find yourself on many pages of this book. If you're not, I can't encourage you enough to read it to better understand those wonderful, spirited ADD people who have enriched your life.

Entertaining, thoughtful, frank, insightful

I put the book in my car thinking I'd read a chapter now and then when I was out for breakfast. Surprise! I couldn't put it down. It's a compelling narrative and enjoyable read. The layout and illustrations make it easy to read too, which is the intention of the author, who's learned a lot about things that either help or hurt those with ADD and those who love or work with them. I don't have ADD but know a number of adults who do; I'm buying them all a copy. This is extremely well-written, full of personal anecdotes that illustrate the points the author is making about living with ADD. She's frank and open about her own ups and downs through the years. But it's not just a self-absorbed personal "confession." She's put the science into lay terms, making it accessible for all of us. Best of all, the book is one of hope and encouragement, celebrating the good things that can come from having ADD, especially if it's recognized and properly managed. And if I were a physician or therapist, I would be recommending this book to all my patients.

Wonderful in every way!

This is one of the best books I've ever read, in any genre. It makes you laugh and cry and feel a wide range of emotions in between. Everyone will be able to identify with something, if not many things in this book. It's incredibly honest and inciteful into ADD/ADHD and human behavior in general. I love this book for many reasons -- the wisdom, emotion, honesty, humor AND it is beautifully written and illustrated. A real find!!!

As a result we have oil spills, depletion of fish stocks, threatened extinction of some species (e.g. whales), shark attacks, polluted and dried-up rivers, misallocated water, unsafe boating, piracy, and other indices of economic disarray which, if they had occurred on the land, would have been more easily identified as the result of the tragedy of the commons and/or government ownership and mismanagement. The purpose of this book is to make the case for privatization of all bodies of water, without exception. In the tragic example of the Soviet Union, the 97% of the land owned by the state accounted for 75% of the crops. On the 3% of the land privately owned, 25% of the crops were grown. The obvious mandate requires that we privatize the land, and prosper. The present volume applies this lesson, in detail, to bodies of water.

I'm going to recommend your book, of course, to listeners. I don’t think you’re going to find another book on water body privatization. I think I can say that with a degree of confidence. But this book, which Walter Block and his co-author have just released . . . is the place to go to get a lot of very important food for thought. (The Tom Woods Show)

In this pathbreaking tour de force, Professor Walter Block of Loyola University, New Orleans, and Peter Nelson, an engineer out of Colorado specializing in water resources, lay down the case for full-throttle Water Capitalism. In free-flowing, inter-disciplinary form our authors provide a jam-packed foundation (and I do mean jam-packed; the bibliography alone is 35 pages long) for future advocacy of free markets in all things aqua…. In sum, Water Capitalism is a breath of fresh air in the stagnant atmosphere of watered down quasi-defenses of aquacapitalism. In September 1997 we needed a book on Category Theory for our first year undergraduate class in the B.A. (Mod) honors degree in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) at the University of Dublin, Trinity College, Dublin 2, Ireland. This book was at that time the only one that satisfied our requirements. Now we have chosen (Lawvere and Schanuel 1997) in addition. It is our opinion that one ought to start with the latter, a most excellent introduction of great profundity, and, for application to computing, use the Walters text. It is hard to beat this combination for a first year undergraduate course, as far as we know at this time (Sept.98)

A Very comprehensive textbook for beginners computer sci.

The Book begins with the plain definition of a category, as
does any other book. However, it points out a category as a
kind of (abstract) Data Type. Distributive Categories are
discussed as a milestone for developing the basic concepts
in computation, as those of imperative programs and Data Types.
The Book has a lot of examples (from computation) and the
author took care of drawning conclusions from them before
develop an abstract framework. The concepts of automata
and automata with inputs are shown (the later in a functorial
category). Grammars and Graphs are discussed as well.
The book has a very good introduction to the concept of
freeness and adjunctions. Its latest chapter treats the
computational category theory in the context of Knuth-Bendix
procedure. The exercises present in the book are great !!
They guide the student gradualy into deeper questions without
any frustation. There are very easy exercises which have
the only goal of finding out ones undersating of a new definition.

Disappointing at best.

I was looking for a book on Windows 10 IoT so I purchased this. One small chapter on how to install the Windows 10 IoT core that was presented almost word for word from the Microsoft web site. The rest of the book was straight Linux (which I already know) and there are better and more comprehensive books on this subject already on Amazon.

May look like a coffee table book but do not be fooled! Has so many maps, illustrations and archaeological information. Used for my Archaeology uni degree and have used it since as a great resource. Covers all aspects of Roman Britain. If you only have one book relating to Roman Britain then choose this one - you can't go wrong!!

Excellent Coverage of COM+

If anyone thinks that COM+ is going away, they are misguided. .NET will still rely on all of the infrastructure for transactional applications that COM+ provides.
Lowy has provided an excellent explanation of COM+ and its architecture and then how .NET will fit in. The chapter on XP is also excellent. Anyone who reads this book could definitely put it in the category of blend between Pattison's ease of reading and Ewald's technical explanations.
All of the code is in ATL 7.0, and although that isn't any really big leap from ATL 3.0, the environment does take some getting used to.
Additionally, the Logger project in Appendix A is worth the price of the book.

Amazing explanations of COM+ Services

I have read several books now on COM+ and MTS before it, and I have never quite understood how everything ties together and works together. So I have been stumbling in the dark on this for years. My components work, but I never knew if they worked optimally.
This book changed all that. Finally, it all makes sense. This is by far the best book on this subject that I have read. Every piece of COM+ is explained clearly and with enough detail to get the point across without bogging down the reader. It even answered some difficult mysteries for me such as "Why is the JITA checkbox greyed out for my transactional components?" I couldn't even find an answer for that one on the newsgroups.
The .NET coverage is brief and was probably an afterthought (in that it appears in a chapter at the end rather than integrated throughout the book), but it is enough to get started. I am looking forward to a second edition of this book that focuses on .NET and has all the code examples in C#. Juval, please write that!

About the Author
Thomas A. Garrity is the William R. Kenan, Jr Professor of Mathematics at Williams College, where he was the director of the Williams College Project for Effective Teaching for many years. He has written a number of research papers and has authored or coauthored two other books, All the Mathematics You Missed (But Need to Know for Graduate School) and Algebraic Geometry: A Problem Solving Approach. Among his awards and honors is the MAA Deborah and Franklin Tepper Haimo Award for outstanding college or university teaching.

Wildly inaccurate title

This is not in any sense "electricity and magnetism for mathematicians". Rather, it's an introductory and fairly rushed text on electromagnetism and calculus on manifolds for undergraduates. Readers looking for the connection with Yang-Mills theories should look elsewhere - only a single page is devoted to this topic.

A guided tour of modern math and physics

The subtitle of the book is more informative than the main title. The book really is "a guided path from Maxwell's equations to Yang-Mills." It does not go into the kind of exercises you'd find in on an electrical engineering homework assignment, but it presents Maxwell's equations from several increasingly sophisticated perspectives, culminating in a glimpse of Yang-Mills theory. Along the way it gives an introduction to special relativity, Lagrangian mechanics, calculus on manifolds, and quantum mechanics.

I really enjoyed this book

I really enjoyed this book! It gives a truly well-explained tour through physics and explaining everything needed in understanding the framework of modern physics. Concluding in force=curvature and gauge=connection, an integral part of physics and then Yang-Mills theory.
